Society of Biological Inorganic Chemistry Early Career Researcher Committee

Vision
The Society of Biological Inorganic Chemistry (SBIC) Early Career Researchers (ECR) Committee operates under the auspices of the SBIC Council and is dedicated to advancing ECRs within the field of biological inorganic chemistry. The Committee’s mission is to provide a platform for SBIC early-career scientists to develop professionally, expand their networks, and contribute to the growth of the discipline.

Through organizing initiatives, fostering collaboration, and advocating for the interests of ECRs, the Committee aims to support the next generation of researchers in advancing the frontiers of biological inorganic chemistry.

For the purposes of the Committee, "Early Career Researchers" refers to individuals who are within ten years of receiving their terminal degree (PhD, etc.), with consideration for career breaks such as parental leave, illness, or other factors. All Committee members should be SBIC members.

The SBIC ECR Committee’s objectives are to:

  • Organize events, workshops, webinars, and initiatives to promote the personal and professional development of ECRs in Biological Inorganic Chemistry and advance an SBIC ECR Professional Network.
  • Provide a platform to advertise career opportunities and vacancies for ECRs related to Biological Inorganic Chemistry.
  • Foster mentoring programs by connecting ECRs with senior researchers.
  • Increase ECR representation and participation at SBIC conferences, meetings, and other related events.
  • Advocate for the professional development of ECRs and provide a voice within SBIC governance.
  • Promote equality, diversity, and inclusion within the ECR community.
