This annual symposium, recognized as a major international scientific meeting, has built a tradition of excellence during the past 28 years. Once again, an outstanding program of topics and speakers has been assembled. This year's session topics include the following:
- Cofactor Biogenesis and Metal Trafficking
- Second-Sphere Tuning of Metallocofactor Reactivity
- O2 and C-H Activation at Mononuclear Metal Centers
- O2 and C-H Activation at Dinuclear Metal Centers
- Complex Cofactors and REaction Mechanisms
- Metals in Medicine
- The Promise of Metallobiochemistry for Society
In addition to poster presentations, industrial exhibits will provide opportunities for participants to exchange information while viewing the latest biotechnology-oriented products and services applicable to this promising area of research and development. The average number of participants over the past twenty years has been in excess of 200. For more information, a list of speakers, program schedule, and registration information, please visit our website at www.symposium.psu.edu. Download program schedule
2010 Environmental Bioinorganic Chemistry Gordon Research Conference
2010 June 13-18, Salve Regina, Newport, Rhode Island, USA
This interdisciplinary meeting on the topic "Environmental Bioinorganic Chemistry: Elements in the Environment, from Prokaryotes to Planets," will gather together scientistsstructural biologists, chemists, geneticists, chemical and biological oceanographers, geochemists, and other specialistwho study the flows of essential and toxic elements through the environment and living systems, on timescales ranging from femptoseconds to eons. Of particular interest are the molecular mechanisms that govern element acquisition and use in organisms, and the tools and techniques used to study these phenomena. The aim of this community is to use these molecular-scale insights to understand the interconnected biotic and abiotic processes that shape the macroscopic environment and its development and change over a range of time scales. EUROBIC1010th European Biological Inorganic Chemistry Conference
2010 June 22-26, Thessaloniki, Greece
The 10th European Biological Inorganic Chemistry ConferenceEUROBIC10will be held June 22-26, 2010, at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, in Thessaloniki, Greece. This biannual conference is a major scientific event worldwide and projects advances in the interface of biology and inorganic chemistry covering a wide spectrum of fundamental and applied fields. Since its inception and inaugural implementation in 1992, EUROBIC has become a scientific institution projecting new ideas and efforts in Biological Inorganic Chemistry and promoting multidisciplinary research in this broad field of contemporary interest. A host of internationally recognized speakers throughout the globe will present cutting edge research results on a variety of topics in Biological Inorganic Chemistry. As a result, an attractive and outstanding conference program schedule of speakers and topics is being put together for EUROBIC10. For more information on the Conference and registration information, please visit the official website of EUROBIC10 at eurobic10.cheng.auth.gr.
Metals in Medicine Gordon Research Conference
2010 June 27-July 2, Proctor Academy, Andover, New Hampshire, USA
The Metals in Medicine GRC has grown into the meeting place of chemists, biochemists, biologists, pharmacologists, geneticists, toxicologists, nutritionists and clinical scientists with interest in the application of metals and other inorganic elements in health-related fields. The conference involves both academic and industrial participation. Topics include: metals in disease (e.g. Alzheimers, neurogenerative, heart and stroke illnesses, iron homeostatsis), platinum and non-platinum anticancer agents, MRI contrast agents, nuclear medicine and radioimmunotherapy, and disease targeting and detection.
To expand the participation of younger practitioners in this field the upcoming meeting will host pilot sessions based on abstracts from new participants in the area.
Contact Debbie Crans (crans@lamar.colostate.edu) or Jan Reedijk (reedijk@chem.leidenuniv.nl) for questions regarding the GRC. Applications for this meeting must be submitted by June 6, 2010. Please apply early, as some meetings become oversubscribed (full) before the office deadline.
Gordon Research Conferences is a non-profit organization providing an international forum for frontier research in the biological, chemical, and physical sciences.
